Jen Halligan – Founder/Owner
Jen Halligan is a literary publicist and the owner of Jen Halligan PR. A former Aerospace Engineer and graduate of the University of Denver Publishing Institute, she feels fortunate that her lifelong love of books led her into a career where she gets to help authors achieve their dreams, and work doesn’t feel like work. She loves partnering with authors, helping them to build their platform and to get their books into readers’ hands.
You may know Jen from her young adult book blog, A Book and a Latte. She had no idea when starting her blog that it would literally change her life. Jen’s experience extends beyond blogging, she feels fortunate to have worked at both a publicity firm and a small press. Those opportunities allowed her to grow her skills, and confirmed her passion for the publishing industry and working with authors one-on-one. Authors are her rock stars, and books are her passion!
Jess Townsend – Literary Publicist
Jess Townsend wants to live in a world where all books come with complimentary chocolate, all protagonists are female, and witchcraft is a lauded profession. A literary publicist for JHPR, she has done publicity for an educational publisher, an indie trade publisher, and is a regular at the Mountains and Plains Booksellers Association Conference in Denver. Jess earned her BA and MA in literature from the University of Colorado at Boulder before finding her intellectual home at the Denver Publishing Institute and turning books into a career. When she’s not evangelizing for her favorite new title, you can find her posting too many pictures of her pup on Instagram and Twitter.
Heather Wheat – Social Media Coordinator
Heather Wheat loves books. She received her BA in English in 2007, and is the social media coordinator at JHPR. She is also a high school English teacher, and she blogs about books, education, and sometimes about life on her blog Wandering Bark Humanities. You can also find her on Twitter @hwheaties, where she’s likely talking about reading, her students, and of course, always books.
